Mike Carney, director of the Human Ecology Foundation (HEF), was joined by members of the HEF board and Carney family members as he presented a $500 award to the Global Studies program at Newark Charter School. Impressed by the capstone project on genocide awareness, presented by seniors Luci Ostheimer, Megan McCormick and Samantha Roberts, HEF was pleased to support the school’s Global Studies program. “The goal of our project was to bring awareness to the fact that genocide and other mass atrocities are still a very big and a very real problem in many countries around the world,” said Luci Ostheimer. “We wanted to broaden people’s world views, just as ours had been broadened in Global Contexts for Leadership.”
