Explore some of the different ways you can volunteer and help the NCS school community.
Daily Recess Supervision:
Parent volunteers are needed to help with monitoring daily recess in the Primary School…regardless of weather. Please contact Primary School Principal Mrs. Boonin at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in being a recess volunteer for grades K-3.
Volunteers are needed to distribute daily lunches during the lunch hours at the Primary and Intermediate Schools. Please contact Food Service Director Mrs. Anna Parks at email@example.com for more information.
Homeroom parents serve as centralized coordinators to assist the classroom teacher throughout the year by helping to disseminate information to parents, coordinating homeroom participation for a variety of school-wide events including annual fundraisers.
Teachers welcome volunteers to assist with daily and weekly copy needs for the classrooms.
Annual Fundraising Events:
- Fall Fundraiser: Each fall, NCS families have the opportunity to support the school by participating in a fall fundraiser. Volunteers are also needed to assist with this fundraising initiative. Please contact Fall Fundraiser Coordinator, Mrs. Kimberly Mills at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
- Annual Auction: The annual auction, held on Saturday, November 5, 2016, is the largest single fundraiser event for Newark Charter School. Volunteers are needed to serve on the planning committee as well as assist the day of the auction. Please contact Mrs. Sharon Dorr at email@example.com if you are interested in joining.
Monday Folder Volunteers:
Each primary school classroom is in need of a volunteer to assemble the Monday folders and assist with the coordination and distribution of key information from the school to the NCPS families.
Field Day Volunteers:
In the spring, grades K-6 participate in a half-day of outdoor field events and games. Parent volunteers are asked to help staff the events.
Our school librarians receive help from our parents throughout the school year and assist with coordination of the fall and spring Scholastic Book Fairs.
Classroom Instruction Assistance:
Parents can assist in the classroom by volunteering to help with:
- tutoring, mentoring

- literacy aides
- homework help (school time and after)
- word wall aides
- special projects and events, science labs

Used Uniform Sales:
Held in August and February, the Friends of Newark Charter School sponsors used uniform sales. Gently used uniforms can be donated to any main office throughout the year. Volunteers assist with sorting and selling the day of the sales.

Eighth grade parents are invited to be part of the planning process for the annual 8th Grade Dinner Dance traditionally held in May.
Coaches are needed for primary and intermediate school teams beginning in September with competitions held in December and January. Lego League is an international competition for students and focuses on a different real-world topic related to the sciences.
